KoreaAI cracked a home camera in 2 hours 37 minutes and pulled its recordings
Asked to find flaws in a common home webcam, an AI produced about a dozen security holes and working exploit code in 2 hours 37 minutes.
MBC's evening news reported on Oct 18 that in a test with security firm Stealien, the AI-written exploit seized admin rights and downloaded the camera's stored recordings to the attacker's computer. A Stealien researcher said the job used to take one to two months.
Stealien's lab head said AI has 'greatly lowered the barrier' to hacking, and one breached device can become a master key for hundreds of thousands of identical units. Samsung and LG cut device connections automatically when they detect anomalies, but cheap devices from smaller makers remain a blind spot.
