Privacy Policy

AI News Daily (the “Service”) is provided as a website (ailetter.ai.kr) and a mobile app. There are no accounts, and we don't ask for your name, email address or phone number. This policy explains what information the Service handles and how.
1. Information we collect
- Website analytics — We use Google Analytics 4 to count which pages and stories are read (page views, whether a story stayed on screen, clicks on source and further-reading links, the domain of outbound links, and the page language). Google may process cookies, device information and IP addresses. The Service does not send values that directly identify you.
- Daily visit count — Once a day we add 1 to a visit counter. The server stores only one number per date and no browser identifier is sent. The number is deleted automatically after 40 days.
- “This was helpful” (web and app) — When you press the button, a random ID created in this browser or device and a story identifier (the date and the first source ID) are stored. It is not linked to a name, an account or a device identifier, and it is only used to stop the same person from voting twice. Individual records cannot be read from outside; only the totals are public.
- App push notifications — Only when you turn notifications on, we store your Expo push token, operating system (iOS or Android) and app language (Korean or English) on our server. Turning notifications off deletes the token, and we also delete tokens that turn out to belong to devices where the app was removed.
- Information kept only on your device — The app's language setting, whether you turned notifications off, and which “This was helpful” buttons you already pressed are stored on your device only and are not sent to the server. The website also remembers only in browser storage whether today's visit was already counted.
- KakaoTalk sharing (web) — Pages with a KakaoTalk share button load Kakao's JavaScript SDK. Kakao may process connection information when this happens.
- Subscribe button (web) — Email subscription is not available yet. Pressing the button records only the time and the page path; no email address is collected.
- Contacting us — If you write to us, we receive your email address and message in order to reply.
- What we do not collect — We do not collect your name, phone number, location, contacts, photos, advertising identifier or payment information. The app does not show ads or track you across other apps or websites.
2. How we use it
- To provide the Service, such as showing stories and sending notifications.
- To understand which stories are read and improve the Service.
- To prevent duplicate “This was helpful” votes and show the totals.
- To reply to your messages.
3. Retention and deletion
- Notification tokens — Kept until you turn notifications off or we find the app has been removed.
- Daily visit count — Deleted automatically after 40 days.
- “This was helpful” records — Kept while the Service is operated. They are stored only under a random ID and cannot identify a person, so we cannot pick out and delete an individual record on request.
- Analytics — Follows the retention setting of Google Analytics.
- Emails to us — Deleted once your inquiry has been handled.
4. Service providers and international transfers
The Service runs on the providers below. Their servers may be located outside your country, so information may be transferred to and processed in other countries when you use the Service. We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.

- Expo, Apple (APNs), Google (FCM) — Delivering app push notifications

5. Your choices
- You can turn notifications off at any time in the app's Settings tab or your device settings.
- Deleting the app removes what is stored on your device. On the website, clear the site's data in your browser.
- You can opt out of analytics with your browser's tracking protection or a Google Analytics blocker.

6. Quoted posts and external links
The Service automatically collects and summarizes public posts on X and Threads, and shows the author's handle and part of the text or replies together with a link to the original. If you would like a quoted post removed, contact us with its address. Sites you reach through links in the stories are covered by their own policies.
7. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 14 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
8. Security
All traffic is encrypted (HTTPS). Individual “This was helpful” records and notification tokens are protected by database access rules so they cannot be read from outside.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will post the new effective date on this page.
