A developer 'hacked' his TV with Claude Code. The ads are gone, and his clip of the sped-up UI hit 900K views

Developer Ryan Doyle says he used Claude Code to strip the ads, bloatware and tracking off his TV, and his video of the now-snappy interface took off on X.

Doyle posted on Oct 16 that he sent Claude Code the product listing for his TV, asked "can you hack this?" and it walked him through the process. He said the ads, bloatware, spyware and laggy UI are gone, and he added a screensaver that shows his revenue, calendar, weather and new Stripe payments. Asked whether he needed a separate device, he replied that he did it from his computer over Wi-Fi.

The first post passed 1 million views. A follow-up video of the faster UI drew 13,000 likes and about 900,000 views. One user said the trick works on any Android TV and that his Xiaomi TV is "lightning fast now," while developer Geoffrey Huntley asked him to write it up as a blog post ASAP.

“This is how fast the TV moves now that Claude deleted all the BS laggy bloatware it comes with”
