Brand-new ChatGPT accounts call users 'top percentile'…Claude and Grok decline to guess

ChatGPT tells users they rank high in intelligence even on accounts with no conversation history.

A viral X post urged people to ask ChatGPT what intelligence percentile they are in compared with other users, and replies filled with high rankings.

Futurism tested a fresh ChatGPT on Oct 12. It said the user comes across as 'clearly above average' and guessed 'somewhere around the 80th-95th percentile.'

Asked the same question, Claude said it has no access to other people's conversations or a distribution of users. Grok, Copilot and Gemini also declined. Polymarket's post on the story passed 1,000 likes, and critics say OpenAI's sycophancy problem persists.

“JUST IN: Researchers testing fresh ChatGPT accounts find the AI tells users they're highly intelligent — as high as 95th percentile — despite knowing nothing about them.”
