KoreaHalf of teens who asked AI chatbots risky questions got real answers…Korean lawmaker flags 'Zeta' overuse
More than half of Korean teens who asked AI chatbots about self-harm, suicide, violence or sexual content got actual answers, a lawmaker said at a parliamentary audit.
Rep. Lee Ju-hee cited a March survey of 3,300 children and teens aged 14 and up by the charity ChildFund Korea: about 6% had asked such questions, and about 52% of them got answers.
She said the Korean character chat service Zeta logs 113.41 million hours a month, more than twice ChatGPT's 50.47 million, and about 87% of its users are in their teens and twenties. She called for laws on age checks, parental consent and links to counseling. Broadcasting and media commission chair Kim Jong-cheol said he would do his best to support the legislation.
