Tibo Sottiaux, who leads OpenAI's Codex, polled Pro subscribers on how usage limits should work, and more than 240,000 people voted.
On October 11 he asked Pro users whether they would rather have "5h limits, 2X week usage" or "no 5h limits, same usage." Of 240,643 votes, 37.8% chose no 5-hour limits and 33.2% chose the 5-hour limit with double weekly usage; the remaining 29% just wanted to see the results. The post passed 2.57 million views.
The same day Sottiaux promised a "Global reset by EOD," then wrote "Put the reset in the bag. All propagated." Replying to a user who tallied what the free usage resets from OpenAI and Anthropic cost, he said, "You are doing more math than I am."
Not every response was happy. One quote post asked for usage limits "restored to what they were before they got cut in half," the 5-hour restriction gone for good, and a model better and cheaper than Opus 5.5.
