After President Donald Trump demanded that people say "super intelligence" instead of "artificial intelligence," Silicon Valley companies are renaming their AI products one after another.
According to The Verge on October 11, Elon Musk promised to rename SpaceXAI, SpaceX's AI unit, to SpaceXSI. Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff said AIForce would become SIForce.
Trump had declared that the White House considers anyone who uses the term "Artificial Intelligence," rather than "Super Intelligence," "THE ENEMY." An executive order requiring government agencies to use the new term was announced at an AI summit.
Nvidia said it would commit $1 billion to US science over five years, including "super intelligence research." Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella repeatedly called the technology "super intelligence" in an October 10 post calling for an AI "emergency brake."
The Verge noted that Silicon Valley has repeatedly tried to ingratiate itself with the administration in Trump's second term, while most of the public is still saying AI.
