Posts on X keep showing people using Anthropic's Claude to pick apart game files and appliance apps and add features that never existed.
Brazilian streamer Guilherme (@FunkyBlackCat) wrote on October 11 that he had to stream Batman: Arkham Asylum with tiny subtitles because the game scales its UI by resolution, and no mod fixed it. He asked Claude to analyze the game folder, and it found a fix and explained it. The post drew 3,400 likes.
Brazilian developer Yuri (@YuriRDev) said he handed Claude his old notes on reverse engineering his air conditioner's app, and in two hours had a Windows tray app to control it. "Midea didn't want to leave your API open? No problem anymore," he wrote, collecting 1,800 likes.
Kotaku reported on October 9 that hundreds of AI-decompiled emulators and games had appeared over the past couple of weeks, with browser ports of GTA: Vice City, Halo: CE and The Simpsons: Hit and Run running well. It credited Claude Opus 5.5, which it called "extremely good at decompiling."
Kotaku expects publishers to send cease-and-desist letters but doubts takedowns will stop new ports.
