Create a ChatGPT dot from your phone and hand it Codex work, including Codex threads already in progress

OpenAI updated dots, ChatGPT's always-on agents, on October 9. You can now create a dot directly in the ChatGPT app on iOS and Android, name it, customize its look and connect plugins, and you can have the app open straight to your dot's conversation. The bigger change is Codex: your dot can start Codex tasks and follow up on existing threads, drawing on your ChatGPT conversations, Codex threads and automations, and it is better at deciding whether to continue a thread or start a new one. It can also review and edit Scheduled Tasks in ChatGPT Work.

Dots are rolling out gradually to Pro 100, 200 and 500 (users over 18 outside the EEA, UK and Switzerland), Business Premium, and Enterprise (off by default until an admin enables it). Conversations with your dot don't count toward ChatGPT usage limits, but work it starts in Codex or Work counts toward those products' limits as usual. The update also speeds up cloud browsing and fixes extra phone notifications while you're already using ChatGPT and Outlook setup getting stuck. Replies to the announcement were full of people asking when dots will come to Plus.
