Story 3 of 5

Claude Managed Agents can now have one agent write a plan and run up to 1,000 agents

Anthropic added dynamic workflows to Claude Managed Agents in public beta on October 9. Given a large job, a lead agent writes a workflow program that runs many agents in phases and combines their results, aimed at work too big for one conversation, such as reviewing hundreds of documents. You switch it on with workflows in the agent's multiagent block and follow progress through workflow_run events on the session's event stream.

A single run can start up to 1,000 agents, a session can hold 10 open runs by default, and a run lives for 24 hours by default. Runs have no price of their own: the tokens their agents use are billed at each model's rates, and every open run pauses when the session hits its budget. A day earlier, the claude.dev blog published a guide to building automation agents on Managed Agents that read Slack and GitHub on a schedule and post updates.
