EuropeSweden's government blocks ChatGPT and Claude on staff computers but keeps Microsoft Copilot
Sweden's government offices will block ChatGPT and Claude on work computers over information-security concerns.
According to Swedish public radio Ekot, cited by Joseilbo on Oct 23, the Government Offices made the decision. "Using AI services without a separate agreement can significantly affect our information security," digitalization director Mikael Wetterkrantz wrote internally. The tax agency and other bodies are also blocking access. An audit earlier this year found Swedish Transport Administration staff using more than ten outside AI services.
Approved Microsoft Copilot stays available, and ChatGPT and Claude may still be used in limited form through the government's own AI platform. The news also hit the top of r/ClaudeAI and r/ChatGPT.
