KoreaAI skin diagnosis for custom cosmetics…government reworks skin data for AI training
The Korean government will rebuild a skin database for AI training to support services where AI diagnoses skin and provides custom cosmetics.
At a ministerial economic meeting on Oct 14, the government announced its support plan for AI-converged K-beauty services, Yonhap reported. Skin data managed by the Korea Cosmetic Industry Institute will be reformatted for AI use. It now holds skin characteristics of about 17,000 people in 18 countries, and will expand to 19 countries next year.
It will also push to amend rules so that one custom-cosmetics manager can oversee several stores using AI and automated devices, instead of one per store, and set up a 25 billion won open-innovation venture fund.
Korea Kolmar developed a machine that sprays treatment and cover powder matched to skin tone, and Amorepacific built a platform that analyzes causes of skin aging and recommends products.
