Creative Assembly and Sega's $40 Total War: Shogun 2 remaster is sitting at "Overwhelmingly Negative" on Steam, and the original game was delisted to make way for it.
TheGamer counted 1,337 negative and 318 positive reviews on Oct 14, about 19% positive. Players say new unit cards and skill icons use generative AI art that isn't disclosed on the store page, with one review complaining that characters have missing fingers.
Reviewers also say decade-old bugs remain and performance is worse than the original. The discount for existing owners expires, after which everyone pays $40.
