Apple unveiled HomeView, a 7-inch smart display, for $299 on Oct 13 (US time).
According to Apple's press release, HomeView runs on Apple Intelligence and Siri AI, a new version of Siri, and handles music, FaceTime calls and smart home control on one screen. It recognizes users by face and shows each person their own messages, calendar and reminders. Greg Joswiak, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said it can recognize up to six people.
Apple said Siri AI is far more conversational and has broad world knowledge. Paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled device, it can draw on personal context such as the calendar and messages. HomeView can sit on a table or be wall-mounted.
Pre-orders start today, with availability from Nov 13. AppleInsider noted that HomeView doesn't play video apps natively, so an iPhone or iPad is still needed.
