Google DeepMind released its latest frontier model, Gemini 4 Argon, worldwide on Oct 13 (US time).
According to Google's blog, Argon is available to developers and enterprises through the API in AI Studio and the Gemini platform. Google AI Ultra subscribers get it in Google Antigravity, and Ultra and Pro subscribers get it in the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search. Google said it ranks first on the Vals Index, which measures performance in finance, coding, legal and tax work. The introductory price is $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens.
Google said the Chrome team used Argon to finish, in weeks, an architectural refactor that separates about 6 million lines of browser feature code from Chromium's core. Teams using Argon in Antigravity increased agentic code submissions by more than 35% and cut code rollbacks by nearly a third, it said.
Artificial Analysis said Argon ties OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra on its Intelligence Index at about 60% of the cost per task. The discounted prices last until Nov 30, after which they rise to $4 for input and $20 for output, it added.
Reactions were mixed. Some users who ran the same prompt against Claude Opus 5.5 reported similar results at a much lower cost, while others posted that it 'comes nowhere near Opus 5.5.'
“Gemini 4 Argon is now globally available.”
