TV hacks'One prompt makes your TV 10x faster' gets 194K views in India — while Reddit says Claude now refuses TV tinkering
Indian tech channel Beebom's Oct 25 video "This Makes Any Android TV 10x Faster!" passed 194,000 views in a day. It shows how feeding Claude a prompt from the open-source CleanYourTV project strips bloatware, home-screen ads and background processes and swaps in a cleaner, Apple TV-style launcher; Beebom says it compared before-and-after performance on several office TVs.
Commenters wrote that it proves TV makers could ship smooth interfaces and simply choose not to (60 likes), and noted the same repo now offers an APK, so no Claude subscription is needed (29).
Claude itself may be balking. A Reddit r/ClaudeAI post titled "Seems like Anthropic enabled safeguards around reverse-engineering a TV" topped the sub on Oct 25 with about 400 comments; the poster said a request to reverse a video game was not blocked. A moderator bot's summary said most commenters were angry that legal work on their own hardware is being blocked and pointed to open models such as GLM, Qwen and DeepSeek. A WorldofAI video with 180,000 views also reported backlash over Claude's reverse-engineering restrictions. Anthropic has not commented.
