A free 'survival AI' that works with the internet down — 1.5 million offline medical and emergency articles

A free app that runs an AI model entirely on your own computer, no internet required, is making the rounds on X. Developer Brangus (@RatOrthodox) released it on Oct 25, writing, "My friends were all talking about prepping so I made a survival LLM." The post drew 1,800 likes and 3,300 bookmarks.
The app picks the best open model for your hardware and downloads it with a library of 1.5 million offline articles, including medical guides, FEMA material, survival manuals and Wikipedia. Setup takes 1 hour 20 minutes to 2.5 hours; after that it works with Wi-Fi off. It searches the library first and lists what it read, and when the library has nothing, it says the answer comes from memory or a guess.
You can add your own files, like a generator manual or a family emergency plan. It's fully open source. "If you consider buying a crank radio, spending an hour downloading an offline model and a library for it to search makes about as much sense," he wrote, while conceding that smaller models do worse.
