Terra beats Sol? Rumors say GPT-6.1 Terra is days away — and OpenAI's naming is a mess

Claims are spreading on X that OpenAI's mid-tier GPT-6.1 Terra is about to launch. Model tracker Token Gremlin (@TokenGremlin) said on Oct 25 that Terra is both cheaper and stronger than GPT-6.1 Sol, which costs $2/$10 per million tokens; the post drew nearly 900 likes.
As evidence, he pointed to Microsoft eval configs where 18 test setups switched from "GPT-5.6 Terra" to "gpt-6.1-terra," and said a release could land within days. OpenAI's tiers run Luna, Terra, Sol and Astra from small to large; if a lower tier beats a higher one, he argued, the names start to mean price points rather than power.
Reactions were mixed. "Then name it 6.2 Terra," one reply said, while another was blunt: "this was said about sol and astra… i don't believe it." OpenAI has not announced Terra.
