SecurityStocks were traded behind their owners' backs in seven accounts at a Japanese broker

An MBC evening news video about stock trades executed in Japan without account holders' knowledge went up Oct 22 and passed 30,000 views. MBC said AI-assisted hacking was suspected.

Per Jiji Press on Oct 21, Japan's IwaiCosmo Securities said unauthorized orders were placed through seven customer accounts after a cyberattack on Trade Works, which runs its online trading system, and trades were executed in five. Trade Works' system was accessed without authorization on Oct 14, and names and email addresses of 4,975 people leaked. The company said the leaked data can't be used to log in or trade, and it is restoring accounts to their prior state.

"This is serious. AI is buying and selling my stocks as it pleases," read a comment with 8 likes. "If AI hacked my account and sold my SK hynix shares, I'd have been so grateful," read another with 7. Others urged Korean brokerages to recheck their security.
