"Trump is using Grok to run the United States" meme tops 10,000 likes as House Democrats demand he preserve his chatbot records

"donald trump is using grok to run the united states of america." That one-line post by X user doomer (@uncledoomer) passed 10,000 likes and 200,000 views on Oct. 30 (KST).

Replies riffed on it ("Grok, capture Maduro. Make no mistakes," 49 likes). The joke rides on a real dispute. According to The New Republic, Reps. Jamie Raskin and Robert Garcia, the top Democrats on the House Judiciary and Oversight committees, sent President Trump a five-page letter on Oct. 28 demanding answers about his chatbot use.

The letter asks whether he has sought advice from Elon Musk's Grok to carry out official duties, and argues that prompts he or his staff entered into Grok, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or other chatbots are "the sole property of the United States" and must be preserved.

The New Republic said that earlier this month it was reported that Trump and then-adviser Musk spent hours asking Grok about Trump's legacy, including how Venezuelans would react if the U.S. captured Nicolas Maduro. Grok said they would celebrate; a month later the U.S. did it, and per Time, Trump found the chatbot ingenious.

The lawmakers wrote that he "consulted Grok, but not Congress" on military deployment to Venezuela, and asked that any AI advice behind policy failures such as the Iran war be preserved. The New Republic piece did not include a White House response.
