Anthropic has begun developing treatments for rare childhood muscular dystrophy itself, and has acquired Mithril Medicine, a one-person company whose founder used Claude to run contracts, logistics and experiments with 11 outside labs.
According to Anthropic's Oct. 27 research post, founder Cody Tranbarger took a possible treatment for one form of the disease from idea to promising mouse results in under 18 months. He now works at Anthropic and plans several new programs. If the candidates hold up, a drug could enter human trials as soon as late 2028.
Polymarket's 'BREAKING' post drew 1,700 likes on X. Anthropic stressed that the work is early and mostly preclinical.
The company has also worked with six drug developers; a separate feature covers those results.
