Posts claiming President Trump is banning the terms 'Artificial Intelligence' and 'AI' spread on X on Oct. 27. We could not find the original remark or reporting that confirms it.
The Kobeissi Letter's post got 3,900 likes; HQNewsNow said Trump announced the 'official ban' after the Wall Street Journal used the term, drawing 1,300. Neither attached the remark.
Gulf News, relaying AFP, reported that Trump told the UN General Assembly last month that 'super intelligence' sounds much better, signed a late-September executive order requiring the term across federal agencies, and wrote on Truth Social on Oct. 8 that the White House regards anyone using 'Artificial Intelligence' as 'THE ENEMY'. It does not bind the private sector, though Meta has adopted it and Elon Musk uses it on X.
Replies split: 'He said he was against cancel culture and now he's banning words' drew 1,500 likes; 'The president cannot ban a term. AI. Gulf of Mexico. Lake Ontario' drew 379.
