Jobs"Ashamed to work at Google": DeepMind researchers resign over military AI contracts
Some Google DeepMind staff are leaving over the company's military AI contracts, the BBC reported.
Per the BBC on Oct 21, London research engineer Sofia Liguori resigned this week, saying the company's push for AI in military operations "makes me feel ashamed to work at Google." AI researcher Andreas Kirsch, who resigned earlier this month, said Google "seems to have no right to control or veto how the Pentagon uses its AI."
A Google spokesperson said public-sector contracts go through a consistent review process that includes its acceptable use policies and AI principles. Google is among the tech companies that signed contracts this year to deploy AI in classified US military settings.
