Security researcher jailbreaks Nintendo Switch 2 with Codex; Mario Kart mod vibe-coded in a day

A security researcher says he used OpenAI's coding agent Codex to pull off the first jailbreak of the Nintendo Switch 2, and has released the exploit. It runs homebrew on the latest firmware, 23.0.1, without any hardware mods.
Per a blog post on Oct 21 by Sammy Hajhamid, who posts as pepsipu, he wired a Switch 1 and Switch 2 to remote-control boxes so Codex could send controller inputs and watch the screen itself. When a console froze, a Bluetooth lever bought on Amazon pressed the power button. Codex found a 32-bit integer overflow in the interpreter of the Switch 1 game SmileBASIC for an initial foothold, then found a way to turn a buffer overflow Hajhamid spotted in the filesystem module into memory read/write. A demo mod that adds Cinnamoroll and Hatsune Miku to Mario Kart World was vibe-coded in a day.
The original post passed 740,000 views and 7,400 likes, and a CentroLeaks post calling it a Switch 2 hack "by AI" drew 6,800 likes. Hajhamid wrote that the jailbreak itself took "substantial effort for ~2 weeks" and that his first goal handed wholesale to Codex failed. The exploit is tethered and must be rerun after each reboot. Switch hacker Gezine said that after talking with him, it "seems legit."
