KoreaKorea will put 4.7 trillion won into frontier AI, with applications opening in December

The Ministry of Science and ICT will run a 'frontier AI' program for top-tier models separately from its existing sovereign foundation model project. The budget is about 4.7 trillion won, structured as equity investment to pull in private capital rather than as grants. Applications open in December once next year's budget passes, and investees could be picked as early as February.

Large companies, small firms, startups and universities can all apply, whether or not they are in the foundation model project, which will continue as planned.
