Story 3 of 6

GPT-6 Astra on ChatGPT plans is now 50% faster, with nothing to change

Codex lead @thsottiaux posted Day 1 of the 28-day pledge on October 5: default speed for GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol is up about 50%, from roughly 30 to about 50 tokens per second. It applies within two hours across every product and partner using Sign in with ChatGPT, including OpenCode, Pi, Amp and Devin, with no settings to change. The post passed 15,000 likes and 1.2 million views.

Many said they would take this over a reset, and people asked whether the API gets it too; the announcement covers the subscription route. One hot take called tokens per second a meaningless metric. Anything faster still requires the $500-a-month Pro plan's Ultrafast tier, at up to 300 tokens per second.
