A post saying Claude, which tells users "I can't hear sounds" when asked to compose, made music from code and math and then explained how in a video it built itself spread on X on Nov. 7.
Japanese user 550 Atelier, who tagged the post with game-development and music hashtags, drew about 5,700 likes, 1,490 reposts, 3,880 bookmarks and 380,000 views. The user wrote that after Claude said it could not hear sound, they wondered how it makes music at all, and that the video it made was "amazing": the method of making music with programming and math, and the way the video was put together. The video is attached to the original post.
Replies piled on with similar stories. One user posted a video their own Claude made on the same topic, introducing itself as an AI that draws in code. Another said the more surprising part was that Claude volunteered to explain in a video, and that if it came without extra instructions, "the conversation history is more valuable than the video" (about 50 likes). A third wrote that not being able to hear became an entry point to a different way of making music.
“Whenever I ask Claude to make music, he often replies, “I can’t hear sounds.” That made me wonder: then how do you make music?”
