Claude Max '20x' label heads to court: class action says weekly caps leave 6-8x Pro

A class action over whether Anthropic's Claude Max 20x plan delivers what it advertises is ongoing, and a post about it topped r/ClaudeAI's daily posts.

According to RuntimeWire and others, a user named Kahn sued Anthropic on June 14 in the US District Court for the Northern District of California. The complaint says Max 20x ($200 a month) delivers only about 6-8 times the Pro plan because of weekly usage caps, and Max 5x ($100) about 3.5 times. The proposed class covers US buyers of Max since April 9, 2025.

Anthropic's position is that 5x and 20x apply per session and that weekly limits are described in its help pages. Per the Daily Journal and others, Anthropic filed a motion to dismiss on Aug. 19, arguing limits were disclosed via links during purchase. One outlet said a hearing was set for Nov. 6; no outcome has been confirmed.

The Reddit post, published Nov. 7, is titled "A judge says Claude Max's '20x more usage' promise could mislead paying subscribers." We found no report that a court made such a finding; what can be confirmed is the complaint's and filings' claims. The class has not been certified.
