PolicyTrump names Jay Clayton AI czar and forms a 'Super Intelligence Force'
President Trump announced on October 4 that Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton is the new White House AI czar. Clayton will lead a new Super Intelligence Force alongside the FTC chairman, the Pentagon's under secretary for research and engineering and the head of the Office of Personnel Management, reporting to Trump and the White House chief of staff.
The announcement came right after executives from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta, Nvidia and SpaceXAI signed voluntary safety standards at the White House. Trump earlier signed an executive order directing federal agencies to say "super intelligence" (SI) instead of AI.
