AI safety"The only winner of the AI race will be AI": Yudkowsky in Seoul urges Korea to control HBM exports; video at 200,000 views
AI doom researcher Eliezer Yudkowsky gave Korea a concrete job. The SBS News video drew about 200,000 views within a day.
The description says he told SBS D Forum 2026 at Dongdaemun Design Plaza on Nov. 5 that the only winner of the race will be AI. "Future AI will be so different it won't even hate us; it will just want Earth's resources for other uses," he said, and criticized OpenAI and Anthropic for saying 'if we don't, someone else will'.
He noted Korea's HBM share and said it should amend AI laws, cooperate on an international treaty and study technical controls so memory chips are not exported or used outside licensed facilities, and proposed concentrating training and inference chips in monitorable facilities with an emergency stop. A conversation with Prof. Kim Dae-sik has about 54,000 views.
