Anthropic filing says it 'may imminently meet' its threshold for AI-driven accelerated progress; Q3 revenue $17 billion, $895 billion in commitments

Anthropic's SEC filing on Nov. 2 showed Q3 revenue of $16.96 billion and $895.4 billion in infrastructure spending commitments. The same filing says Anthropic may soon meet the Responsible Scaling Policy's definition of 'dramatically accelerated progress attributable to AI', which drew attention on X.

Yonhap reported revenue was about 12 times a year earlier and up 46.7% from the prior quarter's $11.56 billion. Net loss was $23.29 billion, down 64.9% from $66.3 billion, but $21.9 billion was a fair-value adjustment on convertible notes and other securities, putting the underlying loss near $1.4 billion. Operating income swung from a $974 million profit in Q2 to a $567 million loss. Anthropic said revenue grew 1,127% while compute and infrastructure costs grew 382%.

Of the $895.4 billion in commitments, $447.5 billion falls due by the end of 2030 and $69.8 billion within 12 months. Anthropic filed its IPO registration on Oct. 26 and plans to list on Nasdaq this month under 'ANT'. Bloomberg put its valuation at $1.4 trillion to $1.5 trillion, possibly up to $1.75 trillion.

The line spread from MTSlive's post (1,900 likes) showing the filing text: 'our internal estimates and our expectations regarding future models, rather than our current models, indicate that we may imminently meet our Responsible Scaling Policy's definition of "dramatically accelerated progress attributable to AI."' The filing says no current model is designated as exceeding the threshold, that acceleration may only be identified after it occurs, and that safety measures could lag; it cites past limits on Mythos via Project Glasswing.

A summary by kimmonismus drew 1,500 likes and rynorhn's 'recursive self-improvement is coming sooner' take drew 939, with replies like 'two years in one year is hardly dramatic' and 'just in time for the IPO'.

“SITUATION DETECTED: In an amended S-1 filed this morning, Anthropic disclosed that internal estimates show its models may imminently cross its RSI Responsible Scaling Po…”
