Anthony Morris (@amorriscode), who built the Claude Code desktop app, has left Anthropic — a day after Thariq Shihipar (@trq212), long the public face of Claude Code, departed. "Yesterday was my last day," Morris wrote, crediting every bug report from the community; the post passed 7,000 likes. A tracker account said the two exits surfaced 45 minutes apart.
With an IPO looming, speculation followed. A post claiming SpaceX AI "may have poached" both engineers spread, though its author admitted the claim is unconfirmed. Others joked they'd "rejoin Anthropic on Monday." Anthropic has not commented on either departure or the rumors.
“Yesterday was my last day at Anthropic. I created Claude Code on desktop because I believe everyone can be a builder.”

Honestly, this one stings. He was the person we pinged when Claude Code broke and he actually answered.
