Game devA dev cloned Hollow Knight with Claude in under an hour — 191K views, and comments say 'Steam does it in 45 seconds'

Indie studio Sasquatch B Studios' "So...Claude Just Cloned Hollow Knight in Under an Hour," posted Oct 26, passed 191,000 views within a day. In the 15-minute video the developer shows Claude building a Hollow Knight clone with 1:1 movement and a live mod for Ori.

"So I'm legit getting scared of AI... I haven't written more than a few lines of code myself in months," he wrote in the description, adding that the point is not to scare anyone but to make clear "just how GOOD they are getting" so developers can decide how to move forward. The studio is run by a couple who sold their house to make games full time.

Commenters were not impressed. The top comment (1,300 likes): "As soon as you called Claude 'he' I knew you were cooked." Others followed: "I created a perfect 1:1 copy of hollownight in 45 seconds on my computer by clicking download on steam" (709) and "Clone and create are two very different things" (99). In a pinned comment the developer clarified he did not mean AI is better than artists, musicians or programmers (153).

Kotaku reported on Oct 26 that hundreds of DMCA notices have been filed over the past four weeks against AI-built game recompilations and browser ports.
