AI filmA 100-minute film with no actors or cameras: JTBC clip hits 320K views — but the theater had four people
A JTBC clip about a 100-minute Chinese film made entirely with AI, no actors or filming, passed 320,000 views in a day. According to the clip, posted Oct 26, about 100 crew members spent two years generating more than 1.2 million base images and revised the film over 100 times.
The top comment (260 likes): "People say it's still awkward, but the scary part is how fast it keeps improving." Another (55): "Who knew film actors would be first to lose their jobs."
The box office told a different story. Per Yonhap, the sci-fi animation 'Sanxingdui: Future Past,' released Oct 23, had taken just 900,000 yuan (about $126,000) by the morning of Oct 25 — under a tenth of its 10-million-yuan budget. AFP said one Beijing theater had four viewers on opening day. The producer said a live-action version would have cost 800–900 million yuan.
