SafetyMeta fires AI safety experts it hired from a startup three months ago

Reports on October 2 and 3 said Meta has dismissed employees it brought in at the end of June from the AI safety startup Virtue AI, including co-founders Bo Li, Dawn Song and Sanmi Koyejo. Meta spokesperson Andy Stone said the arrangement did not work out as planned and cited a clash of working styles. Meta Superintelligence Labs, he said, remains focused on AI safety, alignment and risk management.
