How to schedule a recurring team report with ChatGPT Team Tasks

ChatGPT Team Tasks run recurring work that a team shares, in the cloud, on a schedule or when a specific event occurs. Hand a team something one person used to own, like a Friday summary of what shipped and what's blocked, and any teammate can review the results and edit the instructions. It is a company workspace feature: a workspace owner first has to enable the Create teams and Create and manage team tasks permissions.

  1. In Settings > Teams, select Create team and invite colleagues.
  2. Add the connections the team needs (app accounts such as Slack). Unattended runs can't complete a new sign-in, so finish any sign-in beforehand.
  3. Open Scheduled > + New Task, turn on the Team toggle, and choose the team that will own the task.
  4. Under Trigger, pick Schedule and check the timing and time zone. Event triggers are also available, such as running when a message arrives in a Slack channel.
  5. In Instructions, describe the goal, the expected output, success criteria, and guardrails.
Collect the pull requests merged this week and the issues still blocked in the connected GitHub repository. Group them into shipped, blocked, and next week, with a link on each item. Don't change anything in the repository
  1. Review Plugins and Advanced, choose a Model, then select Create. Select Run now, check the result in Previous runs, and use Edit to adjust.

Tasks don't inherit the creator's personal memories, custom instructions, or chat history, so put everything the task needs in the instructions. Runs use the team's service account and connections rather than the creator's account, and they're billed to workspace credits. New members can see all earlier runs and generated files, so think about who you add to the team.
