How to install the Claude SEO plugin in Claude Code and audit a website's SEO
Claude SEO (claude-seo) is a free plugin that audits a website's search engine optimization from inside Claude Code. Give it a URL and several agents split up technical SEO, content, structured data (Schema.org) and AI search readiness, then hand back a fix list ordered by priority. Since version 2.5.0, released October 22, it requires Python 3.11 to 3.14.
- Add the marketplace, install the plugin, then prepare its runtime.
/seo setupinstalls its own Python environment and a headless browser without touching the rest of your system.
/plugin marketplace add AgriciDaniel/claude-seo
/plugin install claude-seo@agricidaniel-claude-seo
/seo setup
Check readiness with /seo doctor. If your default Python is outside 3.11 to 3.14, the installer picks a supported one on its own; to choose it yourself, use the CLAUDE_SEO_PYTHON environment variable.
- Pick the command that matches the scope you want.
/seo audit https://example.com
/seo page https://example.com/pricing
/seo geo https://example.com
/seo schema https://example.com
audit sweeps the whole site with parallel agents in 10 to 15 minutes, and page goes deep on a single page. geo checks how easily AI search answers can quote your pages, and schema validates structured data and generates new markup. Reports are saved as Markdown files.
- If it's already installed, update it yourself. Auto-update is off by default for third-party marketplaces.
claude plugin update claude-seo@agricidaniel-claude-seo
To get updates automatically, open /plugin, go to the Marketplaces tab, select this marketplace and choose Enable auto-update.
It works without API keys. Without them, Core Web Vitals are lab estimates only; for real-user data, connect the free Google APIs (PageSpeed Insights, Chrome UX Report, Search Console, GA4) with /seo google setup. A full audit runs five agents on Opus, so it uses more of your plan than a single-page check. It's MIT-licensed.
