How to install Google's 30 official Android skills as a Claude Code or Codex plugin
Google's Android team has packaged its android/skills GitHub repo as a plugin for Claude Code and Codex. Install instructions landed in the README on October 12. The current version (1.0.15) holds 30 skills, such as edge-to-edge migration, R8 keep-rule analysis, the AGP 9 upgrade, and moving XML views to Jetpack Compose. On October 17 it was also on GitHub's daily trending list.
- In a Claude Code session, install it in one line without adding the marketplace first (v2.1.275 or later). For a marketplace you haven't added yet, Claude Code shows the source it resolved and asks before adding it.
/plugin install android-skills --marketplace android/skills
From your shell, the marketplace is added and the plugin installed with no confirmation step (v2.1.292 or later). A session that's already open picks it up after /reload-plugins.
claude plugin install android-skills --marketplace android/skills
- In Codex CLI, add the marketplace, install android-skills from the
/pluginsbrowser, then start a new session.
codex plugin marketplace add android/skills

- You don't need to call a skill by name. Ask for a related task, such as "Make my app UI edge-to-edge," and the agent finds the matching skill.
To add a single skill to one project, use the Android CLI. Without --agent it installs for every detected agent, and if no agent directories exist, it goes to ~/.gemini/antigravity/skills for Gemini and Antigravity.
android skills add r8-analyzer --project=.
android skills add --all
